Galaktos – Film d’animation et vulgarisation scientifique

Un film d’animation plein de tendresse et un voyage au cœur des nébuleuses

Après le succès de La Course à la Terre, nous avons remis ça avec une autre production animée pour planétarium. D’après un scénario de Jean-Marc Bouzigues, Galaktos raconte l’histoire du vieux Eugène Ernest Milkman, dit Milky, meilleur livreur de lait de la galaxie, et du jeune Craig, venu faire son premier jour. Cette tournée de lait dans l’espace est l’occasion pour le jeune Craig comme pour nous d’en apprendre beaucoup sur les étoiles et les constellations en nous emmenant dans d’immenses régions spatiales, à des années lumières de notre petite planète bleue. Depuis la nébuleuse à tête de cheval, en passant l’amas de pléiades et les dentelles du cygne, le voyage se prolonge jusqu’au centre la galaxie à « 245 980 800 milliards de kilomètres » comme aime le préciser Milky.

C’est une réalisation qui a mis en complémentarité deux approches : une réaliste qui consistait à recréer les magnifiques tableaux des constellations et des nébuleuses, et une plus libre sur la création de personnages amusants. Cette seconde partie créative reposait essentiellement sur l’envie de rapprocher deux thèmes initialement éloignés qui sont le lait et l’espace. Toute notre recherche a puisé dans ce que ces deux univers pouvaient nous donner une fois mariés. Est-ce par hasard que les dramaturges utilisent le terme de « milking » pour désigner cette technique par laquelle on puise un maximum d’idées d’un seul concept ? Quoi qu’il en soit, nous avons suivi l’idée et avons fait en quelques sortes notre « milking » sur le thème du « milk ».

Soutenu par des dialogues tendres entre les deux personnages et par un travail de vulgarisation remarquable, Galaktos constitue une excellente entrée en matière pour qui voudrait comprendre les lois des étoiles. C’est aussi une prouesse technologique dont nous sommes fiers. Notre principale réussite a été de proposer un modèle 3D de la galaxie qui fit date et qui dépassa les attentes des spécialistes, aussi bien en termes de réalisme que de cohérence esthétique. Aujourd’hui encore, ce modèle de la voie lactée est utilisé dans les planétariums. Il nous a d’ailleurs ouvert la réalisation d’une production au réalisme encore plus ambitieux : Planètes !

D’étoiles en nébuleuses, Eugène et Craig vont parcourir ensemble les paysages célestes de notre Galaxie, jusqu’au redoutable trou noir tapi en son centre.
Nous réalisons des simulations 3D et des modélisations sur la base de recommandations et des données scientifiques fournies par le responsable scientifique du planétarium.
Eugène Milkman est livreur de lait dans la Voie Lactée depuis 800 ans. Vrai loup des mers céleste, il pense fortement à partir en retraite.
Bert est le mécano en chef de la station spatiale, en charge d’un bon état des vaisseaux.
Recherches graphiques et modélisation du héro du film
Craig est le jeune stagiaire qui va accompagner Eugène pour sa dernière tournée. En fait, il fait un stage de reconversion, avant, il était dans la blanchisserie.
Source inépuisable de matière première, nos bovidés broutent paisiblement dans les pâturages, en attendant l’heure de la traite.

Sur la base des recherches graphiques, création 3D de la station orbitale géostationnaire.
